In Car Mechanic Simulator 2021, players can restore cars that are available in the game, whether if it is pre-installed, came from the downloadable content (DLC) car packs, or downloaded as a car mod from the Steam Workshop, using more than 4,000 car parts.
They can either sell it for additional profit and for future car projects, as well as added car parts and upgrades, or keep it as part of their in-game garage collection.
They can also repair or restore different kinds of cars, ranging from classic Americana muscle cars to compact cars to sports cars to full-size sedans to hatchbacks to grand tourers to minicars.
One of the cars that are already available in the game is the Delray Winchester, or in real life, it is the 1971 Buick Riviera, a Third-Generation personal luxury car produced by Buick from 1971 until 1973.
How to Restore a Delray Winchester
Players can find, and buy, the 1971 Delray Winchester at the Junkyard, the Barn, and the Car Auction.
Once they have purchased it, according to Boblas' YouTube video, they need to wash the body and the interior in the Car Wash, then they will move it to one of the Car Lifts that are in the Garage.
From there, they will drain the oil that is inside the engine using the Oil Drain machine, then they will drain the other fluids such as the brake fluid, the coolant, the power steering fluid, and the windshield washer fluid using the Drain Tool.
After draining the oil and the fluids, they will disassemble the whole car, and get the parts that they need to repair or replace, until what it left on the Car Lift is the body frame, which they need to repair using the Wielding Machine. They will also need to recharge the battery, if there is one, using the Battery Charger.
Then, they will repair the car parts that they can still use in the restoration project by placing them on the Repair Tables that are in the Workshop. From there, they will play a minigame where they need to accurately hit the green tabs in order to fully fix said parts.
On the other hand, the parts that cannot be repaired anymore will be sold instead for additional Credit, which they can use to buy replacement parts, or Performance Parts if they want to increase its Tuning percentage. If the car was purchased from the Junkyard, they will also need to buy the parts that are missing.
Once they have the repaired and replaced parts, they can now start reassembling the whole 1971 Delray Winchester, starting with its engine, which is a V8 1carb OHV. They can also swap it with either a V8 2carb OHV, a V8 2carb OHV Supercharged, a V8 OHV MAG, or a V8 OHV 6P engine.
In order to build the said engine on the Engine Stand, they will need the engine block, the crankshaft, the camshaft, the pistons with their rings, the crankshaft bearing caps, the rod caps, the oil pan, the oil filter, the flywheel, the clutch plate, the clutch pressure plate, and the clutch release bearing.
They will also need the engine heads, the valve push rods, the rocker arms, the engine head covers, the spark plugs, the exhaust manifolds, the intake manifold, the carburetor, the round air filter with the base and cover, and the fuel filter.
They will also need the ignition coil, the alternator, the power steering pump, the cam gear, the timing chain, the timing cover, the ignition distributor with the rotor, cap, and clips, the ignition wires, the water pump and pulley, the crankshaft pulley, the serpentine belts, and the radiator fan.
Once they finished building the whole engine, they will remove it from the Engine Stand, then they will put it inside the engine bay using the Engine Pulley.
Then, they will install the car's internal parts starting with the gearbox, the starter, the battery, the reservoirs, the radiator, the fuse box and cover with the new relays and fuses, the brake servo, and fuel tank and pump.
Then, they will install the rest of the parts, including those for the exhaust pipes, the suspension, and the braking system, as well as the tires with the rims, the body kit with the doors, the windshield and the other glass panels for the windows, the side mirrors, and the parts for the interior such as the steering wheel and the seats.
Once they finished reassembling the whole car, they will fill the engine, the brake servo, the radiator, and the reservoirs with a new batch of oil and other fluids, then they will paint the body with the color of their choice in the Paint Booth.
Afterwards, they will move it to the Test Path room to realign the tires and the lights, as well as to test the newly-installed braking system.
Then, they will move it again to the Dyno Test room to tune up the gears inside the gearbox and to do a dyno test to check the performance of the newly-built engine. Once they are satisfied with the results, they can now test drive their very own Delray Winchester.
