Blizzard Announces Planned Survival Game Set in ‘a New World’

Blizzard Entertainment, the developers behind World of WarcraftDiablo, and Overwatch, announced that they are working on a new game set in a new world. This will be the first new game universe that the game developing company will be working on in six years since the release of Overwatch in 2016.

The said new game was revealed in a hiring ad that Blizzard posted on their website. According to the said post, the company is seeking developers who are willing to help them work on the said new project, especially during its early stages.

The post also hinted that the said project would be a survival game that will be playable for the PC and gaming consoles such as the PlayStation and Xbox, which might be possible since Microsoft acquired Blizzard, along with Activision, for $69 billion last week.

According to PC Gamer, Blizzard provided a short description of their planned survival game, saying that the world that it will be focused on will be full of heroes that its players have yet to meet, stories that have yet to be told, and adventures that has yet to be lived. They also said that a realm of possibility is waiting for them to be explored.

Aside from the ad, the developing company posted two pieces of artwork that might be a glimpse of what they are working at.

One of the said artworks, according to Polygon, shows a lightly-armored ranger who is crouching in a forest, wielding an ax, and wearing an animal skull-shaped helmet. She appears to be tracking down a set of colorful footprints on the ground, which leads towards the said forest.

The other artwork shows two teenagers, who left the urban city on a bicycle, stumbled upon a fantasy world that has a floating castle in the distance as they exit the forest.

According to Hypebeast, Craig Amai, the project lead for the said game, tweeted it was first a dream project that would later be materialized with the help of a team full of people that will share the same vision that he has for the game.

Mike Ybarra, Blizzard Entertainment's co-president, tweeted that he was excited for the project, the developing team's vision, and the brand-new world that they would present for the players to immerse themselves in together.

Blizzard is not the only one with projects working after Microsoft bought them last week. Several reports revealed that Activision is working on three new Call of Duty games, one of which is a probable sequel for Call of Duty: Warzone.

Besides, the developing company is working on a new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare game. Both of the said games, including a third one, are released in PlayStation as a continuing partnership between Activision and Sony.
