Early 'Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga' Impressions Come Back Positive

"Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga" early impressions are out ahead of the game's official launch, and they're looking to be quite positive.

According to WCCFTech, it is the most ambitious effort to date for developer TT Games, and it is evident in the game's scope. It covers all nine of the core numbered films from the "Star Wars" franchise, which players can reportedly tackle in any way they want.

They also mentioned that this scope (especially when talking about a Lego game) could be not too friendly for young audiences who might see the Lego branding and think it's a fun, not-too-challenging romp.

As per WCCFTech's early impression, however, the game already gives players a good amount of freedom to do whatever they want. This is proven by how free play starts right after the introduction mission, allowing Luke to explore the Lars homestead and Jawa village doing side quests.

But Tatooine is obviously not the only place explorable in "Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga," since the gameplay preview that was released also showcased multiple planets and locations like the "Rise Of Skywalker's" rebel base, as well as Coruscant.

'Fan-Pleasing If Familiar'

These were the words of Eurogamer's Tom Phillips, who also got to try the game for himself early. He would consider the latest "Lego Star Wars" title as a well-polished experience from developer TT Games, even if it did come after a rare pause in the release of Lego games.

He also mentioned the game's character system. In the early playthrough, it was revealed that the hundreds of characters present within "Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga" are divided into classes, each of them featuring skill trees and abilities that players can unlock.

You can play as almost anyone you want---you can be Luke, Leia, Rey, or perhaps even C3PO or a Tusken Raider. And each character will come with their own skillset that will cater to your personal playstyle.

A New Hope

Digital Trends' impressions of "Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga" was also quite positive, with them commending how the game tackles the films' stories and puts their own spin on it. They claim that the section of Episode IV that they played through (where Leia was trying to escape Vader as he boards the Tantive IV) felt "fresh," considering how this particular scene has been adapted so many times in pop culture history.

But despite the characteristic Lego humor and easy-to-grasp gameplay basics, "Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga" isn't designed only for youngsters. Older fans of the series will reportedly still find a lot to like in this game, as TT Games made it a point not to sacrifice engaging gameplay for adults, specifically those who have been with the "Lego Star Wars" franchise since the beginning.

When Can You Experience 'Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga?'

These early impressions, however, are not representative of thoughts on the game as a whole. Those are reserved for when this new "Lego Star Wars" game comes out: April 25th, for last-gen (PS4, Xbox One), current-gen (PS5, Xbox Series X/S), PC, and the Nintendo Switch.
