Fortnite Could Be Getting A Disney+ Inspired Obi-Wan Skin

Fortnite is once again returning to a galaxy far, far away.

Twitter leaker and dataminer Shiina has teased what looks to be an official Obi-Wan Kenobi series crossover skin for Fortnite. According to GamesRadar, the teaser was buried in the latest patch for the battle royale title in the form of an image of a very, very familiar-looking lightsaber.

Here is the image from the tweet:

But it's not just any lightsaber, especially if you're an avid Star Wars fan. It looks to be Obi-Wan's third lightsaber, which was built during the Clone Wars. This was the one he used after losing his second lightsaber at the Battle of Geonosis in Episode II. It also remained as his primary weapon until the start of the original Star Wars trilogy, during his exile on Tattooine. It was also the one he used to duel Vader on the Death Star.

As such, this is the same exact lightsaber that fans would see when Disney+'s Obi-Wan Kenobi series premieres on May 27. But as for the skin's release date, there are indications that it could be a direct tie-in to the release of the series and will, as such, release on the same date.

Fortnite's Latest Star Wars Collab

Epic Games actually already announced a new Star Wars collaboration on their official Fortnite blog. In there, they said that the collaboration will see them un-vault all of the past Star Wars crossover content for Fortnite starting from May 3 until May 17.

Players can use the items in special in-game quests to get an mpire Banner. But aside from that, the collaboration will also include every single non-Battle Pass outfit in the item shop for a limited time.

Fortnite players will also get to wield iconic lightsabers from the series once again. This includes Luke's Obi-Wan's, Kylo Ren's, and even Mace Windu's one-of-a-kind purple saber. And to cap things off, players will also get access to the E-11 Blaster Rifle, which can be acquired by exchanging bars with Stormtroopers at their checkpoints.

Obi-Wan Skin Details

But despite the clear presence of Obi-Wan Kenobi's iconic third lightsaber, there's actually no official confirmation of a Kenobi series-inspired Fortnite skin. As per DualShockers, this tease is only a potential indication of the inclusion of the skin and not a confirmation that it is arriving.

However, the impending arrival of the Disney+ series is just too on the nose to ignore. Epic Games has always been fond of its Star Wars collaborations in the past, and for them to not take advantage of the hype surrounding the show would be quite weird. Plus, they've already done series tie-in skins before.

Earlier this year, the massively popular battle royale game already added the skins for Fennech Shand, Krrsantan, and Boba Fett from the Disney+ series The Book of Boba Fett (via GameRant). All the skins were accurate depictions of their appearances in the show. So for this one, it could be safe to assume that the skin will be faithful to Obi-Wan's appearance in the Kenobi series.
