The Roster For Street Fighter 6 May Have Already Leaked

A New Leak Says There Will Be 22 Total Street Fighter 6 Characters

Street Fighter 6 was revealed as part of the latest iteration of Sony's State Of Play presentation, but it's not due until next year. However, the game's roster of fighters may have already been leaked well ahead of launch.

Capcom announced the arrival of "Street Fighter 6" soon along with the 10 fighting game titles for the Fighting Collection series.

According to a report by PlayStationLifestyle, the 22-character roster was allegedly revealed in screenshots shared all over the web - Reddit and ResetEra the two most prominent. The shots were said to be of a poster, which showcases both old and new faces for the newest Street Fighter game - the first since 2016.

Of the 22 alleged Street Fighter 6 characters, only four have been confirmed so far by Capcom on the game's official website: Ryu, Luke, Jamie, and long-time fan-favorite Chun-Li. Here are the leaked ones:

  • Ken
  • Zangief
  • Dhalsim
  • Blanka
  • Honda
  • Guile
  • Cammy
  • Dee Jay
  • Juri
  • Rashid
  • Ed
  • Marisa
  • Akuma
  • Lillu
  • Mimi
  • JP
  • A.K.I.
  • Kimberly

As you can see in the list, there's a host of familiar names from Street Fighter games of old: Zangief, Dhalsim, Honda, and Blanka, to name a few. But you can also see some new names there. Either way, the leaked roster was also posted on the Street Fighter subreddit, complete with the artwork for each character.

Some fans who commented on the post noticed the new faces, with one user pointing out the inclusion of Juri, Ed, and Rashid. They said that these characters were first introduced in "tweener" games - aka games that weren't big parts of the main Street Fighter lore. They might seem off to some folks, but their inclusion in these non-mainline games "gives them a pass," as the user says.

Capcom hasn't issued a statement that contradicts or confirms the leak so far.

More Details About Street Fighter 6

As previously mentioned, Street Fighter 6 will be the first mainline game in the long-running fighting franchise since 2016 - when Street Fighter 5 was released. It's been a long time coming, though there are still not a lot of details shared about the game despite its reveal during the State Of Play presentation for June.

The game was first teased last February via a video posted on its official YouTube channel, writes GiveMeSport. There, two of the four confirmed characters (Luke and Ryu) were shown, but not much else. Here's the teaser trailer:

Aside from that, the game has also been confirmed for both last-gen and current-gen systems, as well as Steam on PC. That means the Xbox One, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5. However, it will be one of the few remaining games to release for last-gen.

To cap things off, Street Fighter 6 will be having a story mode called World Tour. According to DotESports, World Tour is designed to take players "and put them on the actual streets - aka see your fighter running around in what looks to be open-world maps. Whether the environments will be truly open-world, however, remains to be seen.
