PS4, PS5, and PC players can get their hands on the game on July 19th, as revealed in the recently concluded Sony State of Play presentation. But aside from that, Eurogamer also reports that the game will also be available as a Day One release on PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium tiers.

PS Plus Extra and Premium are the two highest tiers of Sony's revamped games service, which was launched as a direct competitor to Microsoft's Xbox/PC Game Pass. Extra and Premium costs $15 and $18 a month, respectively. If you're one of the many people who recently signed up, then you'll get one of the year's most anticipated indie games for free.

Otherwise, you'll have to pay full price for the game if you buy it online or physically. On Steam, the game is priced at $13 - though there is a special pre-purchase promo slashing 10% off the initial asking price. That promo ends a day after the game's launch, however, so you better get it there quickly if you want to get a discount.

There are no prices indicated on the game's PlayStation Store page, however.

Developer BlueTwelve shared a new trailer for Stray as part of the recently concluded State Of Play event for June. Here it is:

The trailer indicates that the footage was captured on the PS5, which was also made clear by the 60 FPS frame rate. As you can see there, the trailer shows off a few more environments that players will encounter in-game, including what looks to be climbing puzzles and a handful of NPCs that the cat "talks" to.

Aside from that, the new trailer also showed off a few enemies that the cat doesn't seem to have an ability to fight - rather, players can only run away from them and escape. This might make the game feel a lot more refreshing, especially in the midst of combat-heavy titles littering the modern video game market.

What Is Stray All About?

As previously mentioned, Stray puts players in the paws of a stray cat lost in a dystopian, cyberpunk-looking city that's filled with robots. The cat's main objective is to be reunited with its family, but not until it has uncovered an ancient mystery.

Throughout the game, the cat will do what a feline does best: use its agility and reflexes to escape threats, go up obstacles, tip things over the edge, and solve puzzles - all in the name of survival. With the cat will be a tiny helper bot named B12, who will allow it to communicate with the NPCs littering the game world. B12 is also going to help the cat traverse the environment in Stray.

For now, the game seems to be a timed exclusive for the PS4, PS5, and PC, as made clear by a disclaimer included with its first reveal back in August 2021 (via PureXbox). This could mean that the game might come to the Xbox Series and last-gen Xbox One consoles at some point in the future, but until then, on PlayStation and PC players get first crack at it.
