Here's What You'll Get In Every Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Edition

Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (the new one, not the old or remastered one) has finally been revealed and has a concrete release date: October 28th. The game was just revealed with a world premiere trailer, and you can now preorder it with two main editions.

The two main editions, as shared by IGN, are the base and Vault edition. You might find it a bit weird for a AAA title like Modern Warfare 2 to not have much, but that's what you're going to get. However, you have to prepare your wallet a bit because Activision Blizzard is going all next-gen pricing on this one - even if you're getting it on a last-gen machine.

The Red Team 141 Operator pack is going to give players access to four playable multiplayer operators on day one: Farah, Ghost, Soap, and Price, writes VideoGamesChronicle. Each of them will have a masked outfit, which will be themed according to Ghost's iconic look.

Aside from the freebies, preordering Modern Warfare 2 will also give you access to the game's Open Beta, as well as "other instant rewards" that Activision Blizzard and Infinity Ward hasn't revealed yet (via the Call Of Duty website).

If you go for the $100 Vault Edition, you're also going to get both the last-gen (PS4, Xbox One) and next-gen (PS5, Xbox Series X/S) versions of the game at once. As such, you have to make sure that you're playing the right version on a new-gen console, considering how both "may be available for download" as part of the cross-gen bundle. But this only applies for Xbox, as the PS5 version doesn't actually have a PS4 version of the game bundled with it.

Why Does Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Cost That Much?

$70 was the proposed price for next-gen exclusive games on the PS5 and the Xbox Series X/S when the consoles first came out. But perhaps nobody expected that even the last-gen versions of the rebooted Modern Warfare 2 will cost that much.

But why is that, though? The simplest answer is also the most obvious: games are getting even more expensive to make and market, writes PCGamer. And for a long-time AAA franchise like Call Of Duty, the costs can be astronomical. And as for the $100 Vault Edition, well, that's on you at this point. It will be your decision to weigh in whether the aforementioned freebies (which we assume will be strictly for multiplayer) will be worth the extra $30.
