As reported by Windows Central, the WoW Dragonflight public alpha is said to be set for July 14th. The rumored date is from insider sources who are said to be "familiar with Activision Blizzard's plans." According to these sources, the first wave of alpha invites are scheduled for that date - though Blizzard themselves hasn't denied or confirmed anything.

Either way, anybody who wants to opt in for the World Of Warcraft Dragonflight public alpha can already sign up. All you need to do is go to a link on Blizzard.com and click the "beta opt-in" button. But before you do, make sure that you're logged into your Battle.net account. Aside from that, signing up will also mean you consent to news and the l;atest updates about the game itself, even before it's released to the general public.

But what is the WoW Dragonflight expansion, even? According to Laptop Mag, it's the ninth expansion in total for the MMO which was revealed last June. Its reveal was an hour-long stream offering a deeper dive into the content players can expect from it, and it looks like it's going to be a really big update.

Dragonflight is expected to bring a new class, race, and various change to professions alongside other content centered around the Dragon Isles - its new map. That new race is called the Dracthyr, who were created by Cataclysm villain Deathwing and was the result of a combination of the powers of humanoids and dragons. Dracthyr are able to shapeshift into either humanoid or dragon forms, and can be customized =to your heart's content during the character creation page.

As for the story, here's an announcement cinematic showcasing the narrative of the expansion:

TLDR: Dragonflight will focus on World Of Warcraft's legendary dragon aspects, who seek to rekindle their place as the powerful caretakers of Azeroth.

Is This World Of Warcraft's Saving Grace?

The Dragonflight expansion is perhaps one of Activision Blizzard's numerous ways to keep their subscription-based MMORPG alive. That's because the game has actually seen a decline in recent years, with numerous players saying that the game itself is either dying or already dead.

Numerous reasons have been given for these assumptions. As per EGamersWorld, one of the biggest is that the endgame has become "incredibly grindy. To get as much excellent loot as you want, grinding through bosses, dungeons, and crafting menus have become the norm - and they say it's getting more tedious over time.

Aside from the perceived increased grind, Activision Blizzard hasn't kept up much with regular content updates for WoW as a whole. In an MMO such as this one, content is king - especially if you're asking people to subscribe to play it.
