Released on November 3, 2022, The Chant is developed by Brass Token and published by Prime Matter. A single-player horror game told from the third-person point-of-view, it follows a group of people whose peaceful weekend retreat goes wrong thanks to a group chant that opens what is known as The Gloom.

What exactly is The Gloom? It is described as "a psychedelic dimension of terror that feeds off negative energy." Fight or Flight

Survival comes down on whether you choose to fight or escape. Should you choose to fight, you will be equipped with spiritual abilities and weapons. You will have to craft weapons and collect and manage resources along the way.

The group chant will release creatures and cultists from The Gloom and, in order to defeat them, you will have to be smart with the choices you make.

Steam Reviews for The Chant

As of press time, The Chant has more than 500 user reviews on Steam. These reviews are generally described by Steam as "Mostly Positive."

"This is a really fun and spooky survival horror game," user Takoyaki524 says in a review. "The story is interesting and the combat is unique (a bit tricky at first, but not too hard once you get the hang of it)."

"Some people might complain about the length (at about 7-8 hours to beat) ,but the game also includes free DLC I haven't even tried yet," Takoyaki524 adds. "It's refreshing to play a game that isn't overly padded, which seems the norm these days."

"The Chant is a modern day classic, evoking memories of Alan Wake, Oxenfree, and a smudge of Resident Evil," user Emilio says in a separate review. "The Chant offers a great overall experience and is without a doubt double AA horror that punches well above it's budget."
