5 Things New Players Must Do First in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet continues to be one of the best games on the Nintendo Switch to this day. If you are thinking of buying the game, be sure to read this article. That's because I am going to give you some tips on what you should do first in order to have a much smoother experience.

Choose the Right Pokémon

If you have played Pokémon games before, you know that you are given the choice of what Pokémon you will start your journey with. In Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, you can choose one of the following

Fuecoco (Fire)
Sprigatito (Grass)
Quaxly (Water)

Now, which one you should pick depends on your preference. If you want a Pokémon that has a lot of HP, then Fuecoco is the ideal choice. If you value more attack power, then Sprigatito will not disappoint. If you want a Pokémon that has fewer weaknesses, then Quaxly is right for you.

Be Sure to Finish the Tutorials

Tutorials in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet are optional. However, they provide a ton of information that can be useful, especially in the later stages of the game. Be sure to devote some time to completing them. If you are new to the game, tutorials are being offered as classes at the academy.

Visit the Store Often

Delibird Presents is a store that you can find in the major cities in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, including Mesagoza, Levincia, and Cascarrafa. That said, visit the store often because it refreshes its stock regularly.

If you are lucky, you might be able to purchase some pretty good Held Items like the Choice Specs and Power Weight.

Defeat the 'Titan'

One of the best things about Pokémon Scarlet & Violet compared to its predecessors is that this is the first game in the franchise that lets you explore the world at your own pace.

Having said that, instead of following a linear path, head to certain areas that provide you with more value for your time.

For instance, if you head to the South Province (Area Three), which is situated just outside the eastern gate of Mesagoza, you will find the Stony Cliff Titan. Defeating it adds a new and improved dash ability for your mount. This new ability allows your Pokémon to run towards a tree at high speeds, causing any Pokémon hiding among the branches to fall down.

Establish Waypoints

The open-world nature of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet encourages exploration. That is why you should establish waypoints first so that you can come back to certain locations much easier the next time. Look for watch towers and Pokémon Centers in order to take advantage of this fast travel system.
