Persona 6 Rumors: Everything To Know About Atlus' Latest Installment

Persona 6 is Rumored To Release on Multiple Platforms on Launch, Including Nintendo Switch 2

Atlus' latest installment, Persona 6, is rumored to be coming out on multiple platforms, including the Nintendo Switch 2.

Industry insider and leaker Nate the Hate made the claim last week that Persona 6 will be released on Xbox. During an episode of the DirectXbox podcast from Spawncast, he also said that he was not sure about the game's PlayStation version.

However, he noted that considering the way that the Personal franchise has been day-and-date with multi-platform releases, it was a safe assumption to make that Persona 6 will be day-and-date Xbox and PlayStation.

The news might not be a big deal at first glance, especially considering Persona 3 Reload just launched last month. That particular game was made available across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.

What is particularly of note here is that this is relatively new for Atlus. In 2016, Persona 5 originally launched on PS3 and PS4 and was not made available to the Switch, PC, and Xbox until six years later, in 2022, according to VG247.

The latest rumors that suggest Persona 6 will be released on Xbox on launch could be considered a big deal. Additionally, Persona 3 Reload is expected to be released on Game Pass day one, which means that it would not be a surprise for the latest installment to be available on Xbox.

A leaker who goes by the name Midori backed up the latest claim, saying that everything that Nate the Hate said was accurate. She added that Persona 6 would also be released on multiple platforms. In the past few months, the leaker has shared accurate information about several Sega properties, particularly in relation to the Persona franchise.

The leaker also previously said that Persona 3 FES" The Answer would be made available as a DLC, which was found true after an announcement during the Xbox Partner Preview in March 2024.

Launching on Multiple Platforms

Midori had also claimed beforehand that two other Atlys RPGs were set to launch on the Nintendo Switch's successor. These are the recently released Persona 3 Reload and the upcoming Metaphor Re: Fantazio, said GameRant.

Takuya Yamaguchi, the director of Persona 3 Reload, previously said that the team behind the game could work to port it to Nintendo's handheld console if the Switch ever got a successor. If the leaker's claims are believed to be true, this means that the Nintendo Switch 2 could have three popularJRPGs almost immediately after launch.

Despite the various leaks and rumors regarding Persona 6, the exact release schedule of the game is not yet clear. It was initially thought that development of the game started in or around 2021 when Atlus was recruiting for the project.

The anticipation for the latest installment of the Persona franchise comes as Persona 3 Reload received criticism for not including all extra content from various past versions to provide players with a complete experience.

In a recent interview, series general producer Kazuhisa Wada shared how such player feedback inspired the development of the expansion, known as Episode Aigis, according to Eurogamer.
