Disgusting But Effective: Stardew Valley Lets Players Drink Mayo To Recover Energy and Health

Stardew Valley Leys Players Drink Mayo, a Disgusting But Effective Way To Restore Energy and Health

Stardew Valley recently released its version 1.6 update that included a lot of new content and features as well as bug fixes and now also lets players drink mayo, a disgusting albeit effective way to recover energy and health.

The new feature is only one among many others that have raised eyebrows among players of the game, including Mr. Qi is seen beating up cheating players at the Summit and creepy mannequins trying to steal players' clothes.

The game's developer, Eric Barone, also known as ConcernedApe, posted one patch note per day in the lead-up to the 1.6 update release. It was meant to be a sort of countdown to the official launch of the patch.

The majority of the patch notes were relatively unexciting, such as the reduction of the amount of time to push against a pet before walking through it or giving spouses a seven-day honeymoon period after getting married. But one of the last notes that Barone posted was a deal-breaker, as the game would allow players to drink mayonnaise, according to PCGamer.

That particular post was met with an unexpected assortment of cursed replies and celebrations and while some may wonder why any player would do so, it comes with a great benefit. Even players who are not speedrunning may enjoy cleaning up their farm area as fast as possible.

Due to the player's actions, their character's energy will usually be drained rather quickly, and will be forced to go to bed early to avoid passing out. While many others have taken to eating root vegetables to restore 45 energy and 20 health, the 1.6 update has brought mayo, which restores at least 50 energy and 22 health when it is drunk.

This means that mayonnaise is actually players' best choice for consistent energy in tending to their farms early in the game. Furthermore, getting the resources needed to make mayo is relatively easy, as players will only need eggs and a mayonnaise machine, which only requires a copper bar, an Earth crystal, wood, and stone, and a farming level of two.

Mayo Speedruns

Additionally, having a good source of energy-restoring items means that players will be able to go to the mines and get more resources than they previously could. This is because mining is an important part of progressing in Stardew Valley as it is where players can find many of the stuff needed to upgrade tools and build equipment on the farm, said Polygon.

The new feature has now spawned something that players would never have thought possible before, a speedrun to get the first mayo in the game from the beginning. One of the fastest runs that have already been done is by a player known as LarkyLovesYou__, who has managed to achieve the feat in less than 20 minutes.

The strategies that players use in the mayo speedrun are relatively simple, they wake up and gather the ingredients that they need for the mayonnaise machine via farming and mining until they are able to build one, according to VG247.
