7 Days to Die Graduates from Early Access, Console Players Face 1.0 Repurchase

After an extensive 11-year journey in early access, 7 Days to Die, the immersive open-world zombie survival game, is finally stepping out into the full release realm. Developed by The Fun Pimps, the game initially launched in December 2013, offering players an apocalyptic adventure filled with challenges and undead encounters.

Console Players Face Repurchase Hurdle

While the transition to the full 1.0 release brings exciting updates such as enhanced gore, fresh challenges, and improved controller support, console players are met with a notable hurdle. Due to significant technical disparities between old and current console hardware, The Fun Pimps has announced that the legacy version will not receive upgrades. As a result, console players must repurchase the game to access the full 1.0 release, priced at £30.

The development team is collaborating closely with Sony and Microsoft to offer a discount to digital legacy owners for the new console edition. Additionally, the "legacy" early access version will soon be removed from console storefronts.

Transition Details and Future Plans

PC early access players will seamlessly transition to the full release at no extra cost. However, all players will need to start anew as existing saves will not be compatible with the numerous updates. While a solid release date for the full 1.0 console version remains undisclosed, the team aims for a launch shortly after the PC 1.0 Stable release, anticipated within the coming months.

Starting today to Apr. 29, PC players can take advantage of a 76% discount on 7 Days to Die, avoiding the impending price increase post-early access departure.
