Originally released in 2000 (!), Icewind Dale became an instant RPG classic, focused on an epic story in the Northern part of Dungeons & Dragons' most popular setting the Forgotten Realms. Now, developer Beamdog is bringing this well-known tale to a new generation of gamers.

A D&D Game That Actually Captures The Game's Spirit?

The world of Faerûn is in peril: an ancient evil burrowing deep below the Spine of the World in the utmost north of the Realms is stirring, and it's up to you and your party to stop them... but this time in glorious HD!

New features for this HD remake include dozens of new spells and items, including new magic armor and weapons, over 30 new kits and classes to create the perfect adventuring party, the ability to join your fellow adventurers in cooperative, cross-platform multiplayer games, quest content cut from the original game, now finished and restored, and finally both the Heart of Winter and Trials of the Luremaster expansion packs. The game will be available in English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish.

Dragon Age: Inquisition To Feature Zombie Unicorn Mounts

Beamdog states there will be no in-app purchases for this game, which is a big plus. What a callback to classic gaming, isn't it?

Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition will come to PC, Mac, iPad, iPhone, and Android tablets and phones. No release date has been announced yet. You can, however, pre-order it right here. Doing so will get you into the Icewind Dale beta and will allow you to play right now!
