Mad Catz Lynx 9 Controller Unveiled At CES 2015: Modular, Transforming Gamepad For Android Devices And PCs

It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad Catz: The LYNX 9 Hybrid Android Controller Is Everything 2015 Was Meant To Be

Forget all the talk about how the future isn't here because nothing looks like it did in Back to the Future II. It's nonsense. The future is here, and it is this Mad Catz L.Y.N.X. 9 Mobile Hybrid Controller for Android smartphones, tablets and PCs.

No, this is not the 'future of 2015'. This is the beyond future, this thing comes from a time unimaginable. Look at this! It's a god-damn Transformer. When the robots come, and they will, they will, it will be because of this piece of machinery. This thing ripped from another time, a time and place of wonder and imagination.

Which is why it's completely awesome. The LYNX controller isn't just another add-on, the way the MFi controllers for iPhones are. This is an all-in-one platform that can be adjusted to fit any Android enabled phone or tablet, creating in essence a Wii U Gamepad.

The controller can fit Android devices on top of it, or split apart to accommodate a tablet and can even connect to your HDTV by way of the PlayBig cable. It also comes with a full QWERTY keyboard that can be seamlessly fitted onto your phone or device.

Like Android devices themselves, the LYNX comes with a long last rechargeable battery, capable of supplying over 30 hours worth of game time or browsing.

Oh, and it also comes with a built in mic so you can talk and play at the same time. In fact, the only thing this doesn't do is make Julien fries. And I'm sure it's pretty capable when it comes to slicing and dicing at the least.

The whole thing costs $299, a steep price and more than the cost of most phones with a plan. However, it will be the only controller you will ever need. And if you have certain DirectInput enabled games for Windows, you can use it for that, too.

The LYNX is available for pre-order now and will ship sometime in March. Head over to the site to secure your spot in line.
