The Week In Games: Shovel Knight, Assassin's Creed And More

No more beta key giveaways, no more hoping against hope. The free to play brawler will be available on PC on June 2. An open beta period will be happening beforehand, beginning on May 19.

Don't worry fellow players, Blizzard has assured us that there will be no more information wipes. All progress made in the current closed beta will carry over to the full release.

Games Of Glory, New MOBA/Shooter Begins Alpha Test This Summer

"With its focus on team play and fast-paced fun, Heroes of the Storm is a fresh take on a very popular genre," said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. "We've built Heroes of the Storm in a way that makes it accessible to new players, but also challenging enough for veterans who really want to put their skills to the test. We can't wait to see what Heroes brings to the co-op and competitive scenes once the Nexus opens up to everyone."

We love Heroes of the Storm here at GameNGuide. It's fast paced - with games lasting at most 30 minutes, with an average of about 10-15 - and easy to learn. The options for customization in-match are limited, with a lack of items to purchase actually quite wonderful and thus far, the community is largely present. Though I expect that to change come June.

The game will launch with 30 Heroes and the seven current battlegrounds, with more coming at a steady pace in the future. We have our own list of suggestions.

To celebrate the launch of Heroes of the Storm, Blizzard will be holding a live-streamed event on June 1 in London, U.K.. Further information will be made available as the event draws closer.

Few games have the built in audience to challenge League of Legends for the MOBA crown, but if any could, it's Heroes of the Storm. The whole MOBA genre is here because of Blizzard - the original Defense of the Ancients (Dota) was a popular map in Warcraft III. At last, the company that started it all, returns.

See you in the nexus, my friends.
