'Skate 4' Release Date & Updates: Online Petition Urges EA To Make The Game; Developer Too Busy With Other Franchises?

There are rumors that "Skate 4" may enter development soon, although it's not likely that anything would begin this year. Fans already initiated an online petition to encourage Electronic Arts (EA) to start working on the sequel, but the game developer is allegedly too focused on other titles for now.

"Skate 4" is currently one of the most highly anticipated video games in 2016, although EA has yet to make an official announcement about commencing work on it. Some "Skate 4" fans believe that there will be an announcement before the end of 2016 or sometime in 2017. Others speculate that EA is moving away from the franchise due to its decreasing performance. "Skate 3" launched on May 3, 2010, so fans are already clamoring for an update.

One YouTube user, X7 Albert, started an online petition to convince EA to create "Skate 4." The petition even requested the aid of the White House and aims to acquire 100,000 signatures for the President Barack Obama to act on it. A video, titled "Obama Make Skate 4," was included to add to the hype.

Attack of the Fan Boy stated that "Skate 4" fans should not expect the sequel to come out anytime soon. "Skate 4" was absent from the featured list of EA titles at Gamescom 2016. EA also previously stated that although they appreciate the passion for a "Skate 4" game, they are not developing any right now. However, the company would like to continue receiving feedback.

EA may determine whether "Skate 4" is a worthwhile project depending on how well "Skate 3" performs, once it becomes Xbox One backwards compatible. The skateboarding genre is no longer as popular as it used to be over a decade ago. "Tony Hawk's Pro Skate 5" by Activision did not help much either in rekindling the passion in skating games. It may have further compelled EA to focus on other genres, which are actually in demand.

Instead of "Skate 4," EA gamers can look forward to a number of great titles like "Titanfall 2," "NHL 17," "Madden NFL 17," "Battlefield" and "Star Wars." More updates and details on "Skate 4" are expected soon.
