'American Gods' Air Date, Spoilers, News & Update: Bryan Fuller Confirms Shocking Bilquis Scene Completed, Neil Gaiman Series To Feature Male Nudity

Neil Gaiman fans were understandably excited when Bryan Fuller announced that he would adapt the novel "American Gods" into a Starz series. There was just one thing that everyone was worried about: The introduction of Bilquis. However, the showrunner has just confirmed that "that scene" has already been completed. In addition to that, the new show will feature a heavy dose of male nudity.

For non-book readers, here's a clue to why Neil Gaiman fans were concerned about Bilquis' introduction. The first "American Gods" chapter that features the goddess eating a man through her, er, lower set of lips. Some believe that the scene is "unfilmable" because, well, nobody likes the idea of being swallowed whole by a woman that way.

However, the Bilquis scene is officially complete. In addition to that, it will be one of the first shocking things that viewers will get to see in "American Gods".

Bryan Fuller Reveals Controversial Bilquis Scene Is In 'American Gods' Pilot Episode

The "Hannibal" creator recently spoke to Nerd World Report about the shocking Bilquis scene (via io9). Fuller reportedly stated that Yetide Badaki's ancient goddess and the shocking sacrifice will be in the first season of "American Gods". He also clarified that yes, it is in the pilot episode.

"It's in the first episode," Fuller said simply. It certainly sounds like "American Gods" will debut with the controversial Bilquis scene as its first major conclusion.

So yes, "American Gods" will have some shocking scenes involving the female physique. However, that doesn't mean that Neil Gaiman and Bryan Fuller are leaving the men out in the cold.

Bryan Fuller Teases Plenty Of "Digital Erections" In 'American Gods'

Bryan Fuller also revealed that one of the hardest (heh) things about "American Gods" was enhancing the manly bulges in most scenes. "We have so many visual effects that involve digital erections," he confessed. The showrunner even admitted that there were "conversations" about using dildos as a "more cost effective" way to deal with the problem.

The "American Gods" air date has not yet been confirmed. However, the new Bryan Fuller series is expected to air on Starz in early 2017.
