The Last of Us And The Games We Hope Don't Stink In 2013

With the year finally coming to an end, it is time to look ahead to the great games that are coming in 2013. They are a few games that we hope succeed, because this is likely the last year of this console generation. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox 720 are on the horizon and this is or last chance to play the heck out of some Xbox 360 and PS3 games: Here are three games that we hope will be great and won't stink in 2013:

3. DmC: Devil May Cry:

The reboot to Capcom's hack and slash series has received mixed responses from gamers. Some have criticized the changes to protagonist Dante including his new close-cropped hair cut. The demo was released last month and features a great combination of aerial attacks and gunplay. The game is set in a parallel universe in the Devil May Cry series, so the original Dante and Vergil still exist and this game should be looked at like the "Ultimate Marvel" comic line.

2. The Last of US:

Naughty Dogs' upcoming new intellectual property was revealed back in December 2011 and showcased a new take on the survival horror genre. The game is influenced by the novels "City of Thieves," "I Am Legend," "No Country for Old Men," "The Road," and comic book series "The Walking Dead." The game is a big departure from Naughty Dog's action-adventure oriented Uncharted series, but it looks like it will be just as great of a game. The story is set two decades after a cordyceps-type fungus has killed millions of people. The survivors are held within quarantine zones and must battle each other for everyday necessities. I really enjoyed the Uncharted series and cannot wait to see what Naughty Dog is bringing to the table with this game.

1. EVE: Dust 514:

The upcoming free-to-play first-person shooter developed by CCP Games for the PlayStation 3 looks like it could be a game changer. Dust 514 will be directly connected to Eve Online. There will be direct interaction between the two games with player's actions in one game affecting the political and economic status of the other. Combat will take place on the various planets and will feature modded player-driven vehicles. The game will utilize micro-transaction with two currencies. The first currency is Aurum, which can only be bought with real money, and ISK, the currency of Eve Online, which can be earned in both games. The game is highly ambitious and its free-to-play. Hopefully this game won't stink when it releases in 2013.

Honorable mentions: GTA5, Gears of War: Judgement, and the Elder Scrolls Online.
