‘Adr1ft’ Gameplay, News, & Update: Xbox One Version Gets Cancelled; What’s Next For FPX Game?

In an unexpected turn of events, Three One Zero's virtual space reality game "Adr1ft" is no longer coming to Xbox One. Adam Orth, the game's creator, confirmed the news via Twitter.

Orth is one of the founders of Three One Zero and the initial plan for "Adr1ft" was to be released on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. However, a Twitter exchange between Orth and a fan served as an announcement that the Xbox One version for the VR game will be canned. Orth then tells the fan to request for a refund.

According to IGN, 505 Games, "Adr1ft's" publisher, is yet to comment on the subject. As of this writing, no official announcement has been made by the company yet.

How "Adr1ft" Came Into Existence

For the uninitiated, Orth has already carved himself a name in the gaming/tech industry, having worked on "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II" and "God of War 3" before. The creator of "Adr1ft" also served as Microsoft's creative director, but reportedly left the company following the outrage caused by his tweets, reports GameSpot.

In an interview at the Game Developers Conference in 2014, Orth said that "Adr1ft" was created after leaving Microsoft. "I was dejected, ashamed, and embarrassed. I destroyed my career and feared being blacklisted by the industry. I went from income to no income," Orth said when asked what inspired him to create the virtual space reality game.

What's Next For "Adr1ft?"

Earlier this year, "Adr1ft" launched on PS4 and PC, and can also be enjoyed in VR. A thing worth-mentioning is the Three One Zero and 505 Games have apparently removed all Xbox One versions of their games.

NewGameNetwork has since reached out to Orth. "ADR1FT will not be coming to Xbox One. I hope [fans] are able to find some way to experience and enjoy it on our other platforms," he replied.
