‘Underworld: Blood Wars’ Release Date, Spoilers, News & Update: Female Director On Board For New Installment; Kate Beckinsale, Theo James Return!

"The Underworld" movie series is an action packed film about the war between the death dealers or the vampires and the lycans or the werewolves' clan and in between them is Selene and her group. The newest installment of the series is "Underworld: Blood Wars" and coming back is Kate Beckinsale as Selene and "Divergent" series hunk Theo James as David.

"Underworld: Blood Wars" picks up after the end of "Underworld: Awakening" wherein Selene (Kate Beckinsale) discovers that she has a daughter named Eve with her ex-lover , Michael Corvin who is now played by Trent Garrett. Trent Garrett is not the only change that's happened in the movie as producers decided to turn to a first-ever female director for the entire series, Anna Foerster who also served as a second unit director for films such as "Alien Resurrection", "The Day After Tomorrow" and "Aeon Flux".

The movie "Underworld: Blood Wars" also casts Lara Pulver as Semira whose character is a merciless vampire who aims to use Selene's blood in order to achieve immortality. A new character is also revealed in the Lycan race with the name Marius who is played by Golden Globe nominee Tobias Menzies. Marius is the new leader of the Lycans and it is interesting to know how Selene and Michael Corvin as they are expected to come across each other in the movie.

The movie "Underworld: Blood Wars" also begins with a new chapter aside from having new characters. As seen in the "Underworld: Awakening", David (Theo James) is a vampire whose father was murdered during the Lycan invasion in their coven and in the new movie, he is leading the vampire in another battle with the Lycans - an obvious sign that he could have an even greater role.

"Underworld: Blood Wars" is set to hit theaters on Jan. 30, 2017. Please stay tuned for more updates!
