WWE Rumors: Sami Zayn winning the WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 33?

Sami Zayn is one of the most misused superstars on the WWE main roster. However, he might be in line for big push going into WrestleMania 33. The latest rumors suggest that Zayn is going to win the WWE Universal Championship at the biggest event of 2017.

The 32-year-old superstar is currently in the middle of a feud with Braun Strowman. Many fans believe that it is the WWE's way of burying Zayn since Strowman is a favorite of Vince McMahon. However, it seems like there are big things in store for the former NXT champion.

According to Four3Four.com, the WWE is going to push Sami Zayn at the start of next year. It is noted that he could win the Royal Rumble Match and main event WrestleMania 33. The WWE reportedly wants it to happen to swerve the fans.

One of the rumored plans is a Triple Threat Match for the WWE Universal Championship. Kevin Owens will defend the title against Zayn and the returning Finn Balor. It should be noted that this match was planned a year ago down in NXT.

However, a shoulder injury kept Zayn out for a long time while Owens was called up to the main roster. As of this writing, Balor is still not cleared from the shoulder injury that has kept him on the shelf since August.

There are plenty of rumors implying that The Demon King will be back at the Rumble. Nevertheless, these are just speculations at the moment. It should be taken with a grain of salt since the WWE tends to change their plans when information gets leaked on the internet.

As recapped by WWE.com, Owens faced Zayn in a match this week on Monday Night Raw. The reigning Universal champ defeated his rival which might be a way for the WWE to plant the seeds. Of course, there is also the possibility of Zayn getting traded to SmackDown Live.
