Pokémon X and Y: Nintendo Working on Game Breaking Glitch

Remember that glitch that surfaced earlier this week that rendered all your progress utterly obsolete in Pokémon X and Y? Certain players were reporting that after saving their games in specific areas of Lumiose City, their game would be completely frozen upon re-loading the data, and unable to progress in-game any further. Yeah, that's always a great thing to discover...

Well, Nintendo is now aware of the issue, and is working to resolve it. Reports Nintendo Life (they know Japanese better then yours truly), a post on the company's Japanese website, "suggests that work on a fix is under way for those that have experienced the problem," and should be here in a few days.

The post acknowledges that as gamers reported, Lumiose City, the game's equivalant of Paris, is indeed the source of the issue. The company is advising players to save in areas like the Pokémon Centre to avoid the glitch alltogether. Though, if you wanna live dangerously, the company has provided a basic map (shown below) of areas that prompt the bug, so players know what spots to avoid until a fix is issued and the problem resolved.

The company is also aiming to have the patch adjust corrupted files, so don't go deleting them just yet. We'll keep you posted once the patch is issued.

Pokémon X and Y released just this past weekend, and to rave reviews as well as great sales numbers. Nintendo even held a special release party at its World Store in Manhattan to celebrate the game's launch.

The games represent a radical change for the franchise, the top down perspective having been replaced with more of a three quarter perspective, and battles look radically different. As per usual, players will see several new pokémon, 5 of which were teased in the game's trailer at the time of the announcement. There's the usual array of new starter Pokémon, and each game will play host its own type of new, legendary Pokémon. And what's more, a number of classic Pokémon have earned mega-evolutions they can transform into during battle.
