Nintendo NES Classic Specs, Latest News & Update: Retro Engine Sigma Lets You Play All Retro Games For $49

Nintendo's NES Classic console has certainly been a big hit for gamers that are longing to reenact childhood gaming nostalgia. After quickly selling out the day it was released, many fans were left in the dust. Since then, online market opportunists have quickly capitalized on the scarcity of Nintendo's classic gaming rig by selling them 300% more than the console's actual value.

However, a new gaming system seems to be on the radar of retro gamers around the world. Can Doyodo Team's Retro Engine Sigma unseat the NES Classic's popularity in the world of retrogaming?

NES Classic Buster: Retro Engine Sigma Can Play Games From 28 Classic Consoles

Aside from emulating your favorite titles on your personal computer (which lacks nostalgia in any sense), gamers can now enjoy classic games from 28 old school consoles. The crowdfounded project from the Doyodo Team has already raised $111,000 from 1525 backers in Indiegogo, a popular international crowdfunding website founded by Danae Ringelmann.

According to BGR, the game allows you to play your favorite classics through the Retro Engine Sigma Console. The system is described as a living room computer and a powerful media center that can allow you to play retro games through compatible emulators that have been created by third party developers.

Gamers can enjoy multiplayer games because the console supports any USB type controller including Sony's Dualshock controllers and Microsoft's Afterglow pads. The gaming rig connects through TV sets and computer monitors through its HDMI port that supports 4K resolution. It also lets you play games from consoles like the Atari VCS 2600, Sega Genesis and NES.

Doyodo also made sure that the Retro Engine Sigma is powered by decent hardware. The console runs on a passively cooled Allwinner H3 CPU(4x Cortex A7 up to 1.2Ghz), a Mali 400 MP2 GPU and 512mb of random access memory. It has 802.11b/g/n WiFi connectivity and supports 2 USB OTG ports.

NES Classic Buster: Gaming Rig Will Be Available April 2017

The Retro Engine Sigma can be purchased for $49 on Indiegogo. The Doyodo team expects more pledges to arrive since retrogaming has started to become a fad for younger gamers. The early bird package will be available on April 2017, while gamers that are looking for the rig's full release will have to wait till June. You can check on Doyodo's official product video below.
