Thief News: Eidos Releases Minimum and Recommended System Requirements for PC

Here's What You'll Need to Play Thief on PC

We're about a month away from the release of Garrett's first adventure in the upcoming Thief reboot, so to get gamers ready, developer Eidos Montreal has provided the system requirements on its community website. You can out the specs below to see if your gear is good, or if you'll need an upgrade.

At minimum, this is what you'll need:

OS - Windows Vista with platform update
CPU - High-performance dual core CPU or quad core CPU
RAM - 4 GB
Graphics Card - AMD Radeon 4800 series / Nvidia GTS 250
DirectX - DirectX 10
HDD/SSD - 20 GB

The game will run fine with the above, but if you really want things to shine and move along rapidly, here are the recommended specs:

OS: Windows 7 or 8
CPU: AMD FX 8000 series or better / Intel i7 Quad Core CPU
RAM: 4+ GB
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD / R9 series or better / Nvidia GTX 660 series or better
DirectX: DirectX 11
HDD/SSD: 20 GB

This past spring, the game's producer, Stephane Roy, promised the PC version of the game wouldn't be a carbon copy of the console version: of EIDOS Montreal confirms that the PC version of the company's stealth game "Thief" won't be a copy of the console versions thanks to the PC's mouse and keboard controls.

"No doubt on our side the PC version is extremely important," explained Roy. "Just playing 'Thief' with a keyboard and mouse it's different so we must make sure we support that well. For making the PC version we think like a PC gamer, for consoles it's a different type of beast. It's one of our goals to make sure that the PC version isn't just a copy of the console version."

In addition to coming to PC, Thief also releases on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on February 25.
