inFamous: Second Son News - Midnight PSN Launch Announced, New Power Coming in Day One Patch, and Lead Designer Leaves Sucker Punch

New Power Turns Delsin Rowe into Paper Pusher Extraordinaire? Rumors and News Before inFamous: Second Son's Friday Launch

We're just a few days away from Sucker Punch's PS4 exclusive inFamous: Second Son's launch, and there's no shortage of news on the horizon.

First up, it's been confirmed that for anyone eager to get their hands on the game as quick as possible, there will be a midnight launch for anyone looking to get the game digitally from the PlayStation Network. Sony's European Community Manager, Chris Owen, announced the news via Twitter earlier today. Great if you want to avoid the cold, but come Thursday night, expect a crowded network. As of yet, no retailer has announced a similar plan.

Such good news unfortunately comes with tidings of bad. After a fan noticed an update on the LinkedIn profile of Second Son's Lead Designer, Jaime Griesemer, confirmed via Twitter that he had indeed left developer Sucker Punch. Prior to working with Sucker Punch, Griesemer had served as a designer on many of the Halo games, responsible for much of the second game's vehicle designs before moving onto gameplay design with Halo 3. He was with Sucker Punch for three years, and the details surrounding his departure are as of yet unknown, writing via Twitter, "Not really talking about it yet, tho."

Finally, it looks like there might be some more development on that mind blowingly common power the development team had hinted at. Fans over at NeoGAF are claiming a connection between the rumored ability and the Paper Trail website Sucker Punch had set up for Second Son as a nice bonus for gamers to learn more about the game's story, and get karma prior to the game's launch.

It's alleged that the game has missions under the same name as the site. Interestingly, gamers with early access to Second Son are, as of yet, unable to access the third mission in the series. With a day one patch scheduled, many expect a new power to be revealed then. The date also coincides with the with a date set by the Paper Trail site as the release for the "final reward."

The power in question? The same as the website and mission in question -- paper. Sounds odd, but it does seem to fit. No matter the fact that we do live in an increasingly digital age, paper is still quite superfluous, or 'common," much to the joy of Michael Scott. And among wire, electrical, glass, shadow, and magnetic, paper is one of a number of conduit "proteins" mentioned in a brochure on another Second Son viral site, Bioframe Diagnostics.

Finally, according to screens from ParanoidGamer, a locked mission features a conduit with just such a power from whom Delsin can absorb powers from. Control over paper may not sound like the best power, but there've been X-Men with worse abilities who weren't completely laughable.

Maybe Delsin will teach gamers the joys of recycling...
