Xbox Scorpio Release Date, News & Updates: Console Not Yet Using VR, Phil Spencer Says; Will This Cost Microsoft the Win?

The Xbox Scorpio may have a massive advantage over its competition, but it does not entirely cover everything just yet. At this point, Microsoft may be handing the VR title over, but it is only half the battle for the time being and not the whole war.

As it was claimed before, the Xbox Scorpio is the culmination of fan feedback pertaining to what else can be done for a better console. That being said, Microsoft designed what is presumably the best performing console so far, though one of the missing pieces might take a while before it surfaces.

According to Stevivor, Head of Xbox Phil Spencer honestly gave out his word as to when the VR compatibility for the Xbox Scorpio will be announced and said that he does not have a concrete answer just yet. This is simply due to the fact that the team behind it is yet to master the entirety of creating VR games, which also involves the PC games identically.

Spencer added that he is no stronger to the capacity of the VR feature, as he possesses an HTV Vive, an Oculus Rift and has used even the rivaling PlayStation VR device simply for the demos in the past. Despite Spencer not engaging into the VR trend as early just yet, it does not signify that he does not have plans to utilize it. The Xbox Scorpio is designed to be VR-ready and Spencer said that if not this year or the next, the idea will definitely serve them well in due time.

The competition has surely gone much more intense for the consoles, as reports stated. The Nintendo Switch, alongside the PlayStation 4 successors have already established a standard to go up against, and Microsoft may need to up the ante for the Xbox Scorpio, setting aside the already powerful capacity of said hardware.

The Xbox Scorpio is expected to take flight within 2017. Stay locked for more news and updates here at Gamenguide!
