First DLC hitting Saints Row 4 is 'Enter the Dominatrix'

Saints Row 4 developer Volition has confirmed that once players have completed their presidential gangsta duties and saved the world from an alien invasion, their next adventure will be of the DLC variety, set to hit the game soon after its arrival.

Enter the Dominatrix is the first DLC set to hit Saints Row 4, which, oddly enough, was first planned as an April Fool's gag for Saints Row: The Third. Enter the Dominatrix actually featured a storyline that was eventually expanded and became the plot for Saints Row 4, namely, fighting aliens in a virtual world. Enter the Dominatrix, enter the matrix...get it? No? Well, never mind then.

The DLC will be reworked as a mockumentary of sorts, starring the game's cast. Using "behind-the-scenes" footage, characters will jokingly discuss why the concept was cut from The Third, and re-worked into a full game. Sounds more like a post-credit scene, or a director's cut, than a DLC, but that's just me.

Had it been released for The Third, Enter the Dominatrix would've cost gamers $29.99. Price points haven't been mentioned since the DLC's re-working, but given the nature of it, I would think it's cheap at the very least, if not free (at least I hope).

It seems like Volition has had a run of weird, surreal ideas for the fourth Saints Row. It was earlier revealed that the team was even considering a Bollywood dance number to close out the game, but eventually passed on the idea altogether.

Saints Row IV sees players who have gone from taking control of the streets to now ruling the entire country as the Commander in Chief. Instead of common gangsters, players now must fend off an alien invasion with little more than a wide range of presidential super powers. Easily the most realistic premise in gaming.

The game is due on current-gen consoles only - PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 - arriving August 20.
