"Shadowhunters" Season 2 Episode 3, "Parabatai Lost," will follow Alec Lightwood's life without his Parabatai. Actor Matthew Daddario said Alec struggles without Jace, while showrunner Todd Slavkin teased that Episode 3 will be very emotional for viewers.
Alec Lightwood grew up knowing Jace Wayland as his brother, even though they are not blood related. Alec and Jace share a Parabatai bond that is so strong one would think that it is unbreakable. However, "Shadowhunters" Season 2 opens with that bond probably gone, after Jace turned his back on his friends to side with Valentine.
Now, Alec struggles with Jace's absence in the "Shadowhunters" Season 2. He is lost without his Parabatai by his side. Matthew Daddario said that Jace's absence will greatly affect Alec. It becomes a "primary issue" for Alec.
Jace's absence will put Alec in a vulnerable state in the "Shadowhunters" Season 2. He becomes helpless, since he does not know who to turn to anymore. He becomes clueless on how he should deal with the fact that his Parabatai is now with Valentine.
"He's not handling it well. He's not himself at all. [Part of himself ] is missing," Daddario said as quoted by Blasting News.
Alec's struggles without Jace will be the highlight in the "Shadowhunters" Season 2 Episode 3, "Parabatai Lost." The episode will explore the issues Alec faces after Jace left The Institute. Clearly, Episode 3 will be very emotional for viewers. According to series creator Todd Slavkin, it will definitely make viewers cry.
The trailer released for the "Shadowhunters" Season 2 already gave viewers a glimpse at the effects of Jace's disappearance on Alec. He starts to push those close to him away, including Magnus Bane, who only wants to help him find Jace. Alec also starts blaming Clary and he goes against his mother and The Clave's orders.
