Nintendo Switch Games: ‘RiME’ Is $40 On May 26; ‘Super Smash Bros.’ Hinted To Arrives Soon

"RiME" is all set for release on May 26 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC for $30.  It will also become available for the Nintendo Switch, but will be $10 more expensive.

"Rime's" Nintendo Switch Version Will Cost Game Fans $40

Game developer Tequila Works recently announced the release date of their upcoming adventure and puzzle video game.  The studio also made the pricing official.  However, the gaming community was surprised to know the Nintendo Switch version of the game will cost $40 a pop, This Gen Gaming reported.

It remains unclear, though why the Nintendo version is priced higher compared to the other platform version.  Other reports suggest that the price difference could be due to the proprietary cartridge for its game.  Other game console uses the traditional Bu-ray disc.

This is the first time that a third-party game for the Nintendo Switch is charging more for the platform version than its other versions.  Experts on the matter suggest that if the similar pricing pattern will happen again in the future, it will definitely hurt the sales performance of the Nintendo Switch.  Customers will have a hard time to understand why they have to pay a premium price for the same game.

Reggie Fils-Aime, President of Nintendo of America,  was even directly asked by Nintendo fans about the pricing issue during a Facebook stream event, in which he answered that the decision falls entirely on third-party publisher.  Fils-Aime suggested that gamers should ask the game companies directly.

Nintendo Of America Main Man Hinted "Super Smash Bros." Could Arrive On The Nintendo Switch

Additionally, during the same stream event, Fils-Aime also mentioned that there is a big chance that "Super Smash Bros." game will eventually arrive on the Nintendo Switch.  This came as no surprise since the said game is one of the money maker for the company, CNET reports.

The Wii U version of the game sold more than 5 million copies, while the 3DS version has 8.5 million units sold. Aside from "Super Smash Bros.," "The Legend of Zelda" is another high-performing game with the company and it has already arrived on the Nintendo Switch.  Moreover, "Super Mario Odyssey" and "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" are already set to arrive this year for their hybrid console.  Watch "RiME's" gameplay trailer here:
