Spider-Man Mods On PC Are Already Popping Up

You Can Already Pick And Install Spider-Man Mods To Your Heart's Content

It's been only a few days from the time of this writing that Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered came to PC, and already, Spider-Man mods have popped up. Most of them are just hilarious, though.

As reported by PC Gamer, a lot of these mods involve replacing the player character with other character models aside from, well, Spidey. Mods are also bringing some new suits into the game, which is already not short on different suits to craft and collect.

For one, you can now equip the Symbiote suit in the game using a mod from modder jedijosh920, which replaces the vanilla game's Advanced suit with an all-black one. It replaces the textures of the original suit with ones that resemble the Symbiote that could, theoretically, appear in Marvel's Spider-Man 2 next year. Here is a gameplay video showcasing it, and it looks awesome enough:

Another of the cool new Spider-Man mods on PC is called Noir New York by modder themanwithaplan808. It adds a black-and-white filter to the game's map via ReShade, which recreates a 1930s Noir film look. It looks good enough, but the only (and major) drawback is that the city looks very, very modern still. Now, if only a modder would go and turn back time with an actual 1930s mod (i.e. replace cars, NPC costumes, and other environment details), then we're in business.

To cap things off, the player character replacers are just odd for now. One of these mods involve replacing Spider-Man with Stan Lee. It would've been an awesome mod had it come with the right animations, as Stan just stands there in an A pose. This is the same problem with a similar mod that replaces the webhead with Black Cat, another character in the game that prominently features in the DLC.

Either way, these Spider-Man mods for PC are testament to the skill and dedication of the entire game modding community as a whole. While Insomniac Games themselves seem to have not released official modding tools, modder jedijosh920 did release a modding tool that will give people the foundations to make their own mods.

The Best Spider-Man Mods We Spied On Nexus

We at GameNGuide pored through Nexus to see which mods are great for Spider-Man Remastered on PC to try out, and here are the ones that caught our eye:

  • No HUD: This project from modder FashionSkyrim gers rid of the game's already minimal HUD for a far more immersive experience. There are two versions of the mod to choose from: one version only removes the white outlines around enemies, and the other is the full version.
  • True E3 Shader: Back in E3 2017, Insomniac Games wowed fans with just how amazing their Spidey game looked. But when the game released, it led to the controversy known as "Puddlegate," which is a topic for another time. Point is, the E3 2017 gameplay walkthrough of Marvel's Spider-Man was more or less considered by fans as better-looking than the retail version, and this mod aims to replicate that as closely as possible.
  • Photorealistic New York: Modder timelord1102 wanted to make Insomniac's rendition of NYC pop even more with this reshade, which aims to make the city as close to photorealistic as possible. And we're pretty impressed, as this could very much look like a still from an actual Spider-Man movie at first glance:
