Cyberpunk 2077 Introduces Consequences for Players Targeting Drunk NPCs

CD Projekt Red has rolled out Update 2.11 for Cyberpunk 2077, addressing player concerns and introducing a significant change to the game dynamics. The update ensures that the Night City Police Department now responds appropriately when players target drunk or braindance-using NPCs, adding consequences for such actions.

NPC Consequences and Additional Fixes

Previously, players could eliminate intoxicated characters without facing in-game repercussions. However, with this update, engaging in violence against drunk NPCs will lead to active pursuit by the Night City Police. This adjustment aims to enhance realism and discourage players from exploiting perceived immunities.

Beyond this major change, the update addresses player-reported issues, including fixes for melee finishers, animation glitches, floating loot problems, and vulnerabilities during berserk mode.

Looking Ahead to the Cyberpunk Series

Update 2.11 not only focuses on enhancing the consequences for targeting drunk NPCs but also addresses several long-standing issues reported by the player community. A primary fix involves melee finishers, rectifying animation glitches that players experienced when wielding melee weapons. Additionally, the update tackles smaller issues such as floating loot and addressing vulnerabilities that could result in player death when subjected to quickhacks while in berserk mode.

While the focus is on Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red is already developing the sequel. The studio is considering a multiplayer aspect, according to CEO Michał Nowakowski. Speculations about the sequel's setting point to Chicago in 2080, though details remain undisclosed.
