Respawn Entertainment deployed a new update for Apex Legends following the successful launch of Season 20: Breakout. This is a relatively minor patch with only a few changes. However, it may have accidentally changed something that has frustrated those who are playing Ash.

Inadvertent Nerf

According to the patch notes released by Respawn, the minor update reduced the duration of Ash's "Greedy Snare" from 24 seconds down to 15 seconds. Besides that, Ash's "Arc Snare" cooldown has returned to its original value at 20 seconds, down from 25 seconds previously.

In the "Breakout" season for Apex Legends, the company introduced the new Legend Upgrade system which allows players to choose from a couple of different upgrades once their chosen Legends reach level 2 and level 3.

That said, the Greedy Snare is a level 3 upgrade for Ash that allows her Arc Snare to remain in play for 24 seconds. This has been quite problematic since its implementation, so it is understandable that the company had to do something to reduce its impact on the battlefield.

Aside from that, the Arc Snare ability itself has its cooldown reduced to just 20 seconds, probably as a way to counteract the nerf to its upgrade.

Despite the changes that were revealed in the patch notes, it seems that the company may have accidentally implemented a nerf to Ash.

The nerf has something to do with her ultimate ability, Phase Breach. Specifically, the cooldown of this ability has been increased from 120 seconds to 150 seconds (or 2 minutes and 30 seconds). Of course, this is a substantial change; one that not a lot of Ash players agree with.

Ash Mains Frustrated

Understandably, a lot of players who use Ash as their main Legend in Apex Legends are not happy with this undisclosed nerf. Redditor pradeeep_pj asked why the company would nerf her already "clunky" ultimate ability.

Another Redditor said that adding a full 30 seconds to Ash's ultimate does not make sense, especially considering that it already has a pretty long cooldown to begin with.

At the time of writing, Respawn Entertainment has yet to respond about the change made to Ash's Phase Breach. Is it an intended nerf or was it an inadvertent one?

Apex Legends is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
