Super Smash Bros 4 Release Date News Nintendo 3DS: Review of Details We Know So Far

Nintendo has been leaking us Super Smash Bros. news for weeks now through site updates and Nntendo Direct videos. The last Direct was loaded with information, so now is a good time to review what news we have about the upcoming Nintendo 3DS and Wii U title.

There are a bevy of characters already announced for Super Smash Bros., including a handful of new faces. Most of the classics are returning, though the final roster has not been announced yet and additions are still coming. There are 29 characters on the official roster at this time, which should be enough to appease anybody!

Megaman headlines the new characters alongside The Villager from Animal Crossing, Little Mac from Punch-Out!!, Rosalina from Mario Galaxy, and the Pokemon Greninja. Charizard is also playable as his own character (along with his mega evolution), removing the Pokemon Trainer from the lineup. The 24 other characters have all featured in Super Smash Bros. before on one or all of the Nintendo 64, Gamecube, and Wii versions.

Nintendo will not be hosting a traditional E3 press conference this year, but will be hosting its own new format called the Nintendo Digital Event. Included is a live Super Smash Bros tournament on Wii U to be held at the Nokia Theater. Nintendo will host a 16-member tournament with competitive players fighting it out in the new title, which should give us our first view of full matches.

Nintendo also revealed the list of Pokemon that can assist you from the Pokeball item, including Fennekin and Metagross. Arceus is also an option, which should be a pretty powerful item based on the Pokemon's mythos. Stay tuned for more information on the upcoming title, which has been released at a pretty steady clip.
