‘Star Fox Switch 2' Remake Adds Amiibo Support With Exclusive In-Game Rewards

Meet your favorite characters with their newest amiibo releases.

Nintendo is bringing the "Star Fox" franchise back with a modern reimagining for the upcoming Switch 2, revisiting the classic Nintendo 64 title "Star Fox 64."

The remake introduces upgraded visuals, redesigned character models, full voice acting, and new cinematic cutscenes designed to enhance the overall storytelling experience.

The visual overhaul has definitely drawn attention, and the project has also sparked debate among fans. Some welcome the return of the beloved franchise, while others question Nintendo's decision to revisit the same storyline rather than create a completely new entry.

Even longtime series contributors have reportedly commented on updated character designs.

'Star Fox Switch 2' Amiibo Support For Gamers

Alongside its graphical improvements, Nintendo has confirmed amiibo support for the "Star Fox Switch 2" remake. Players will be able to scan compatible amiibo figures using either Joy-Con controllers or the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller to unlock in-game cosmetic content.

The supported figures include Fox, Falco, and Wolf from the "Super Smash Bros." series. Scanning these amiibo will grant players exclusive emblems and background designs for an online feature called the "Battle Banner," which appears during multiplayer matches.

For collectors, these are collectible rewards that allow them to personalize their online presence while reusing existing amiibo figures.

No New 'Star Fox' Amiibo Line at Launch

At release, Nintendo will not introduce a new wave of "Star Fox" amiibo figures, meaning only the existing trio of characters will be compatible with the game.

According to GameRant, this decision has led to speculation among fans about whether additional characters such as Slippy Toad or Peppy Hare could be added in future updates or expansions.

Small Bonus Feature For Dedicated Fans

Although the amiibo rewards are purely cosmetic, they offer an extra chance of customization for fans engaging in online play.

With the game scheduled to launch on June 25, the feature may also encourage longtime players to revisit their existing amiibo collections as the "Star Fox" franchise prepares for its return on Switch 2.

If you haven't previously played the old game, this is now the perfect chance to relive its beauty and gameplay on a newly-launched console.
