"Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis," the much-awaited reboot of the "Tomb Raider" video games, has been delayed to 2027.

While it was initially pegged for a 2026 release date, the upcoming game will now be released on February 12, 2027.

'Tomb Raider' Reboot Delayed

According to a report by IGN, no official explanation as to why "Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis" has been delayed to 2027. However, it is being speculated that the move was done so that the game would avoid the release of "Grand Theft Auto VI," which is scheduled for November.

IGN's report points out, however, that the new release date means that the "Tomb Raider" reboot will now go up against "Fable." The Microsoft game has also been delayed to February 2027.

During the just-concluded PlayStation State of Play event, a release date trailer was released for "Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis," which you can watch below.

Aside from the trailer, it was also revealed during the showcase that the game will also be made available for those who wish to play it on the Nintendo Switch 2. This version of the game will also be available on February 12, 2027.

'Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis'

Developed by Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog and published by Amazon Game Studios, "Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis" is actually the second remake of the "Tomb Raider" game released in 1996. The first remake was "Tomb Raider: Anniversary," which was released in 2007.

The story of the upcoming game, like its predecessors, follows Lara Craft as she goes on adventure to locate an artefact from the lost civilization of Atlantis.

"From your first plunge into Peru's Lost Valley to your first glimpse at the crumbling ruins of Greece, every environment has been expanded with stunning new visuals, an immersive soundscape, and modernized gameplay that makes exploration, combat, and puzzles feel fresh," Michael Lovan, Global Head of Content and Community at Amazon Game Studios, says of the game in a PlayStation Blog post.

On its release date, a Standard Edition priced at $59.99 will be made available, which will include the "Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis" full game digital download, as well as a Survivor Outfit, which is a pre-order bonus.

Alongside this, there will also be a Deluxe Edition worth $69.99 that will include everything included in the Standard Edition, as well as a 48-hour early launch access (a pre-order bonus), a Parisian Fugitive Outfit, and a post-launch DLC story pack.

Pre-orders are now live on the PlayStation Store.
