'Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age' Trailer: 4-Player Co-Op Horror Game Lets You Face 'Twisted Contortions Of Evil' In Victorian England [VIDEO]

Crytek Releases Trailer For New Property 'Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age'

Crytek, the company that brought us Crysis, has just announced a new IP, the 3rd person action-horror co-op game called Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age. The game is being developed by Crytek USA Corp, originally called Vigil, who are no strangers to the action-horror genre, having delivered one of my favorite titles in the past few years, Darksiders.

The Order: 1886 Pushed Back Until 2015

Hunt puts you in the shoes of various demon fighters at the turn of the 19th century who must push back the forces of darkness. The official site describes it as: "Our world stands on the brink of untold prosperity, but deep in the shadows, something is stirring. As the 1800s prepare to give way to the Gilded Age, monstrous horrors once thought to be myth are rising and threatening to emerge from the globe's murkiest recesses. Mercifully, there are those who know the truth; brave hunters willing to step beyond the brink of what is seen and stand against the encroaching darkness. We can only pray their courage remains when they come face to face with the most twisted contortions of evil that await them..."

Gothic horror and an interest in the Victorian era has come back with a vengeance in recent years across all mediums. The Order: 1886 about a band of demon hunters, hits the PS4 next year. Penny Dreadful, the wonderful show on Showtime, is about, well, the myths and legends and demons of popular literature at that time. Even Bioshock Infinite took place at the tail end of the era. Everyone loves Industrial Era Europe!

Over 9000 Zombies! Trailer Releases

Hunt pits you and three companions into a chaotic battle against the creatures of folklore. Nor can you ever learn the levels, as "a special content generation system means the map and enemies you encounter could be different each time you play a level; keeping you on edge whenever you hit the trail."

Crytek is definitely emphasizing the "co-op" of the experience. Sure, you could pull your lone wolf crap in Left 4 Dead, but here, the motto is "Hunt together, or die alone."

The game goes into a closed beta for the PC later this year, and will be available for Xbox One and PS4. You can sign up for the beta on the site. Check out the announcement trailer below.
