'Sin City: A Dame To Kill For' Trailer Brings You Back To Stylized, Comic Book Noir

Troublemaker Studios, Dimension Films and Miramax have released the second trailer for the forthcoming sequel Sin City: A Dame To Kill For and even though it's been nine years since the original, it's hard to not get a teensy bit excited for this one. Call it an overwhelming sense of nostalgia.

Vincent D'Onofrio To Play Kingpin In Daredevil Series

The trailer is drenched in atmosphere. The 2005 Sin City was a visual splendor, a true comic book brought to life, all black and white with the occasional splash of red or yellow thrown in for effect. The whole endeavor was wonderfully earnest and melodramatic, but it knew what it was and made absolutely no apologies for it. Mickey Rourke is still the best thing about it and Bruce Willis as a broken cop was some of his finest work. Needless to say, we were all waiting for a sequel.

The follow-up was rumored for years. It started, it stopped, Frank Miller directed The Spirit, it was on, it was off again until finally Robert Rodriguez and Miller battened down the hatches and just made the damn thing. A Dame to Kill For follows several stories in Sin City, though relies heavily on the comic of the same name, which finds Josh Brolin Dwight, originally played by face changing Clive Owen, having to deal with the always steely eyed Eva Green after a betrayal or two (or three).

How Bruce Willis fits into all of this, considering his character's fate last time out, is anyone's guess.

The trailer brings both old and new characters into the seedy underbelly of Basin City. Marv is back to everyone's delight. Jessica Alba will continue to play the world's most PG stripper and how Eva Green wasn't in the original is anyone's guess, as she looks perfect here.

The film is out on August 22. Watch the trailer below.
