LFG: Blizzard Updates Warcraft's Group Finder To Include Premade PvE And PvP Groups And Raids For Upcoming Warlords of Draenor Expansion

Looking For Group! Blizzard Will Update Group Finder Mechanic For Warlords Of Draenor

Ask any veteran of World of Warcraft and they can regale you, perhaps for a good long while, about heading to Ironforge or Ogrimmar and barking for hours and hours in the desperate hope to find a group. Often, one player would stay in town while the rest dicked around for an hour or two. It was hell. Blizzard had fixed it greatly, introducing a whole group search system and instant teleportation (screw you, Scarlet Monastery!)

For Warlords of Draenor, Blizzard is introducing an updated group finder mechanic in which players can actively search for pre-made groups in both PvE and PvP content. Now, instead of being placed randomly into a group of strangers, you can have some say over your fellow companions. Because nobody likes getting placed with noobs, am I right?

Players can scroll through the Group Finder tab, identify a potentially promising looking set of adventurers and then send a group invitation request to the raid or group leader. Yes, the find a raid option is getting overhauled alongside the standard Normal and Heroic level 5 man quests.

Now that leaders can converse with potential recruits, hopefully raids can be a little more accepting of outsiders. No, I don't want your DKP! I just want to know what I'm doing.

Additionally, players can also start their own groups. All you have to do is click on the Group Finder pane, give your group a snazzy title, explain what you want to do and any minimum requirements (such as 'no noobs' or 'no gnomes'). It's like an Auction House for yourself.

Players applying to join the group show up as potential applicants where the group leader can accept or decline. For raid groups, both the raid leader and players identified as raid assistants share the ability to accept or decline applicants. Additionally, raid groups will be able to see what ranks the applicants have attained in Proving Grounds (Bronze, Silver, or Gold). Meanwhile, a tally of the different roles in the group so far is reflected to provide an overview of how the group formation process is progressing.

It sounds like Blizzard has heard the issues concerned and are, once again, trying to make the game a little more accessible to those who aren't necessarily in a guild and just like playing every now and then. I fully support this.

The Warlords of Draenor release date will be revealed tonight alongside the world premiere of the fifth expansion's opening cinematic. Stay tuned!
