Nintendo Switch Release Date, News & Update: ‘Super Smash Bros’ Coming To Switch; Release Date Revealed

Fans of the fighting game "Super Smash Bros" will be happy with the latest news. A Nintendo Switch version of the said gaming title is expected to be released in 2017.

Nintendo Switch is set to change avid gamers' playing experience with its hybrid design that boasts of the usual home gaming platform but with a portable handheld unit. The Japan-based company's preview clip for the said console even teased some of the games coming to the Switch. Latest reports indicate that "Super Smash Bros" will be one of the upcoming games for Nintendo's new device.

Currently available on Wii, Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS, "Super Smash Bros" will be ported to the Switch, according to gaming enthusiast and Nintendo insider Laura Kate Dale. In a series of social media messages, as cited by WCCF Tech, the reporter stated that game developers are looking to launch the said game within the quarter two or quarter three of the coming year.

Apart from the "Super Smash Bros" port for Switch, the said Nintendo insider also made mention of the planned "Smash" Amiibo figurines for Cloud and Bayonetta. Originally scheduled for a 2016 launch, the said figures will be released during the game's 2017 launch date, according to Dale.

The "Super Smash Bros" is just one of the games that will be released for the Nintendo's new device. Players can expect to enjoy a "Super Mario" game on Switch, as well as the latest installment to the "Zelda" gaming franchise, the "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild."

Meanwhile, other game developers and publishers are also looking to launch new and well-loved gaming titles for the Nintendo Switch. Gaming giant Capcom has recently expressed its plans to develop games for the upcoming new consoles.

In a letter addressed to investors, as obtained by Techno Buffalo, Capcom shared that it has already started its "internal planning and analysis" to explore potential future projects. The letter read, "We are currently carrying out research with regards to multiplatform implementation of software for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on to the Nintendo Switch."
