The CW network has slowly been expanding their DC television universe a little bit every year, it started with "Arrow" in 2012. Two years later, "The Flash" came in, followed by the "Legends of Tomorrow". "Supergirl" has also recently made the jump from CBS to CW and the network is taking full advantage of it by forming a four way CW crossover event between these shows.
The CW crossover events are nothing new for the television network. Having acquired the rights for the pioneers of modern superhero television "The Flash" and "The Arrow," the network has constantly played with the cross over concepts, The DC crossover is shown by Team "Arrow" and Team "Flash" joining forces to take down enemies that might be too powerful for Barry or Oliver to handle alone. However, with "Supergirl" and "Legends of Tomorrow" coming in, it would definitely become a whole new ball game.
Needless to say, even with CW and DC's experience in doing crossovers, developing one concrete story involving four separate shows is not an easy task. According to Greg Berlanti, the upcoming CW crossover will be hinted towards the end of "Supergirl's" latest episode. It will officially follow suit on "The Flash," then with "Arrow," and lastly wrapping it up on "Legends of Tomorrow."
While the directors are busy conceptualizing details of the CW crossover event, fans are wonderin, who will be the villains powerful enough to unite the four universes? In a recent reveal made by CW, the villains in the upcoming crossover event are the alien species known as Dominators.
The inspiration for the CW crossover is taken from the pages of a similar DC crossover event from the late 1980's titled "Invasion" which featured the Dominators. An alien species with the goal of harnessing Earth's metahuman population to create their own army. The four-way crossover is expected to air from November 28 to December 1,2016 on The CW network
