Most overrated games of E3 2013

E3 is almost a week away and many of the games announced so far have gotten gamers pretty aroused as the true next-gen consoles are set for release this fall. These games listed below are the "go to" titles that people can't stop talking about for obvious reasons. Outside of that, what makes them so special?

Killzone: Shadow Fall

When discussing Killzone: Shadow Fall, everyone loves to talk about how beautiful it looks and how next-gen it is. Then developer Guerrilla Games had to remind many on how that demonstration of "game-play" only used 4GB out of the Playstation 4's 8GB.

It doesn't help that Killzone: Shadow Fall looks like another generic sci-fi first-person shooter. In fact, the entire Killzone series has always lagged behind other successful fps -s like Halo and Call of Duty. Remember when everyone called the original Killzone Sony's "Halo killer?" We all saw how that worked out. While the Killzone: Shadow Fall demonstration at February's Playstation 4 reveal was awesome, the video didn't show an evolution in gameplay and looked like an over reliance on scripted moments.

Forza Motorsport 5

Microsoft's Forza series has gone from Gran Turismo imitator to full on threat. The problem with Forza isn't in its quality, but how stagnant its become after Forza 3. Forza Horizon took the series in an interesting direction so much to where going back to sim-racing mode feels like a step back on paper.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

Considering how Assassin's Creed 3 ended, Ubisoft should have let the series rest for quite a while. Going the pirate route just seems forced at this point. Having a nice majority of the game focus being a ship captain feels as if the developer is trying to overuse the novelty that was found in Assassin's Creed 3's navel battles. The fact that it's going to be released on every platform except the original Wii sounds like complete overkill.

Call of Duty Ghost

Something tells me that the Call of Duty series is going to share the same fate as other Activision franchises like Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and Guitar Hero. Both had yearly installments and diminished in quality as time went on. The same will happen with the Call of Duty series sooner or later. At the Xbox One reveal, Infinity Ward ward talked about some of the most irrelevant features of Call of Duty Ghost. Who really cares about watching a school of fish disappear after swimming into one or having a dog? It looks like the series is truly running out of ideas at this point.
