‘The Night Shift’ Season 4 Air Date, Spoilers, News & Update: NBC Renewed TV Series! Ken Leung Not Coming Back?

Fans of the American medical drama now have the reason to celebrate as "The Night Shift" Season 4 will now surely come! NBC recently renewed the favorite television series to have another year to see the hospital staff in San Antonio.

The NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke revealed a statement about their renewal of "The Night Shift" Season 4. "Week after week 'The Night Shift' tells incredibly engaging and emotional stories that draw us into a unique world," she said. "We are delighted to renew the show for an exciting fourth season and look forward to continue working with such a great cast and executive producing team."

According to Zap2It, NBC now has a list of television shows airing for the rest of the regular season schedule. Hence, "The Night Shift" Season 4 is most likely to be revealed in the summer spot where it previously timed for the past three seasons.

"The Night Shift" has been giving sky-high ratings to NBC over the summer. In fact, it has an average of 1.0 rating in the adults 18 to 49 years old with 5 million viewers. The show's rating increases in the first mid-week on DVR and on-demand viewing.

Meanwhile, Deadline reported that Ken Leung, who plays the role of Dr. Christopher "Topher" Zia, will not be back in "The Night Shift" Season 4. The "Rush Hour" star is one of the show's original casts.

However, the publication reported that Leung has the right not to return in "The Night Shift" Season 4 as he has the freedom to choose per his contract. The people behind the TV series asked the "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" actor, but he decided to leave to pursue some other things.

The first season of "The Night Shift" was first launched in 2014 with eight episodes while the season two had 14 episodes. "The Night Shift" Season 3 got 13 episodes and the coming "The Night Shift" Season 4 might have the number of episodes. "The Night Shift" Season 4 will return in 2017.
