First 'official' Grand Theft Auto 5 trailer hits the net

For months now, we've only had two brief teasers and a whole lot of screenshots that have only served to make us salivate that much more for Rockstar's upcoming Grand Theft Auto V. A full trailer has been a long time coming indeed, but you wanted it, so you got it. Just like Rockstar promised, the first "official" trailer for GTA V is here.

At just over a minute, the trailer is short, but good God is it sweet.

GTA V centers around three characters; each with their own reasons for doing the various illegal schemes you'll have them take part in. Players have the ability to switch back and forth between each character on the fly (when not taking part in a mission). The trailer doesn't show this dynamic, but it does give us a better peek at each character. First up, you have Michael, who seems to act as a sort of leader of the trio. He's a career criminal whose patience for his family and his wallet are both running dry. Next up, the story is set for repo man Franklin who wants out of the life he's dug himself into. Finally, there's the resident redneck Trevor, definitely the most colorful of the bunch, but also potentially the most dangerous. "Breaking Bad" fans will see shades ot Tuco in this character.

The trailer shows how the three playable characters came together for their adventures, hinting at a bit of back-story, and what's to come. I can't be certain, but it looks like the sociopathic Trevor's fallen on rough times a bit, and is leaning on the now retired heist man Michael to get back in the game. Newcomer Franklin, whose looking for a bit of extra cash, hopes he can assist Michael and Trevor in their schemes, joins the two.

Now back in, Michael, Franklin, and Trevor take part in heists ranging from the mundane bank robbery to the absurd. Note the harrier jet shooting up a bridge loaded with cars? Yeah, that's GTA V for you...

Rockstar has confirmed there will be multiple endings, and the story will be about the same length as Red Dead Redemption, at about 25 - 30 hours, and that's before the massive amount of secondary things to do, or release of the obligatory DLC, so this should be a monster of a game.

Check out the whole thing below, and if this doesn't get you juiced for the game, nothing will.
