Blacklight: Retribution for PS4 To Offer ‘True’ Micro-Transactions

Blacklight: Retribution will offer true’ micro-transactions different from the PC version

Zombie Studios’ upcoming free-to-play FPS title, Blacklight: Retribution, has given the green-light to the prospect of micro-transactions for the PlayStation 4 version of the game. It has been stated that the game will offer ‘true’ micro-transactions.

Recently, Zombie Studios director Jared Gerritzen was in an interview with Gamingbolt where the modes and prices of micro-transactions were discussed.

“Since we are our own publisher for Blacklight on the PlayStation 4, we are in control of our own pricing, so we can offer our players benefits and deals unique to the PlayStation 4. We also changed the pricing drastically to allow true micro-transactions,” he said.

Additionally, on the topic of changes made to the in-game customization options, Gerritzen stated: “We remade the menu system to allow controller players to easily customize and easily interact with the game, and we utilized the touchscreen to bring some of our systems to the controller because the keyboard just has more keys. We also redid the pricing and monetization for the game.”

Blacklight: Retribution is said to take place in a science fiction setting and offer a number of game types and maps. There are a number of customizable weapons, armors, taunts to choose from alongside incredibly detailed levels.

Players can experiment with muzzles, stocks, ammunition, and even configure the advanced weapons available from in-game depots.

“Wage war with advanced weapons and technology in Blacklight: Retribution, a free-to-play, futuristic first-person shooter. Deploy devastating armored exoskeletons and utilize lethal hand-held weapons in vicious competitive modes,” the official page for the game states.

“The Hardsuit is the ultimate weapon. Powerful but slow, this armored suit packs a one-shot, one-kill railgun and a high velocity minigun to clear rooms... fast. Only by using teamwork, heavy weapons from in-game Weapon Depots and the Hyper Reality Visor (HRV), can players overcome the futuristic killing machine.”

Blacklight: Retribution, one of the several indie titles available at launch alongside the likes of Contrast, Super Motherload, Trine 2: The Complete Story, and Warframe, is currently scheduled to launch on Nov. 15 for the PlayStation 4.
