'Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite' News & Updates: Who Should Be Added To The Game?

It's been five years since the last "Marvel vs. Capcom" game, "Marvel vs. Capcom 3" came out, and now that we have next-gen consoles on our hand the franchise is well overdue for another entry. Capcom has heard the wish everyone didn't know they had, revealing "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" to the world in a trailer premiered at last week's PlayStation Experience.

While we already know that perennial series icons Ryu, Mega Man, Captain America, Captain Marvel, Iron Man, and Spider-Man are in "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite," according to the trailer as reported by Kotaku, it's time for the series to focus on new characters. It's already also been mentioned that "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" will showcase newer Marvel and Capcom properties (especially new Marvel adaptations and franchises), but there are some characters that the game really needs to highlight.

GameRant put together a list of Marvel and Capcom characters we should all want to see in "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite." From the Marvel side, their list focused on relatively lesser-known characters appearing in new movie adaptations. Groot (from "Guardians of the Galaxy"), Black Panther, Scarlet Witch, Loki, and the Purple Man (who appeared in Netflix's "Jessica Jones") are all characters who have never appeared in a "Marvel vs. Capcom" game yet.

On the Capcom side, GameRant also dug pretty deep to feature characters who could use some time to shine in "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite." They suggested Samanosuke Akechi (from the "Onimusha" series), a Felyne from the "Monster Hunter" series, Regina from "Dino Crisis," Q from "Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike," and Leon from "Resident Evil 4." The Capcom characters usually tend to not be your usual fighting game characters, so their addition to the game will be more interesting to observe.

Capcom is targeting a release sometime next year for "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite." It will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and most likely the arcade.
