A lot of people have been waiting for the announcement and official details of the coming "The Leftovers" Season 3. Finally, HBO breaks its silence as it revealed that the final chapter of the Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta television series will only have eight episodes and will be released in April 2017.
In a video posted by "The Leftovers" Season 3 executive producers, Lindelof and Perrotta, on Facebook, they revealed the much-awaited announcement. "Tom, myself and our incredible team of writers and producers put tremendous care into designing those seasons as novels unto themselves...with beginnings, middles, and ends," Lindelof said.
Lindelof added that as they have finished "The Leftovers" Season 3 is still following the "same model" as the beginning and the middle now ended, the end is about to come. "The most exciting thing for us as storytellers would be to bring 'The Leftovers' to a definitive end. And by 'definitive,' we mean 'wildly ambiguous but hopefully mega-emotional,'" he explained.
Moreover, according to TVLine, "The Leftovers" Season 3 is filmed in Texas and Australia. This only means that Kevin Garvey (Justin Theroux) and Nora Durst (Carrie Coon) and their family are relocated in the coming new season.
However, official details about "The Leftovers" Season 3 are still under wraps. It has been known that the show's storyline features the disappearance of the two percent of the humanity while the "leftovers" are trying their best to survive and cope with the Sudden Departure.
With that, Lindelof teased that "The Leftovers" Season 3 is going to be different than its predecessors, although he didn't reveal the reason. The show's Down Under setting will feature an ending that is infused with "a certain degree of energy that's different, perhaps, than the previous seasons." As mentioned, the final eight episodes of "The Leftovers" Season 3 will be revealed in April 2017 on HBO.
