Barely a month from now, Freeform's much-awaited second installment of "Shadowhunters" is scheduled to premier definitively and as it is imminent as it is anticipated, the show's speculations are now being doubled, much to its fans' delight. Without dilly-dallying here is what the show may bring to the table once it finally airs in January.
Titled "This Guilty Blood," "Shadowhunters" Season 2 premier will be heavily concentrated on the repercussions the team will have to address as The Institute's now in upheaval after Jace's (Dominic Sherwood) departure. Meanwhile, Alec (Matthew Daddario), Isabelle (Emeraude Toubia), and Clary (Katherine McNamara) are on all fours trying to locate Jace. Their journey to find Jace has all been interrupted due to the arrival of Victor Aldertree, who in their universe, is known to be a man of no-nonsense when it comes to getting the Institute back in its regular form.
On the other hand, the goal of getting the New York Shadowhunters adjacent with The Clave's aims would be proven to be counterintuitive to Alec, Isabelle and Clary's plan to rescue Jace. "Shadowhunters" Season 2 will also see Jocelyn (Maxim Roy) and her attempt to catch up as she is now awake.
"Shadowhunters" Season 2 will likewise mark the show's attempt at getting its themes darker, physically at least. As per new showrunners Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer, "There were a lot of cool things that perhaps could be cooler, visual-effect wise, the look of the show." Slavkin has added, "We wrote Smallville for many years and the thrill of that for us was the chracter and the growth and the relationships between the people. If anything, in season 2, we're leaning more into that. Of course there's missions and of course there's hunting, but the yearning, the longing, the triangles, the relationships is what really turns us on."
"Shadowhunters" is slated to return on Monday, Jan. 2, 2017 at 8PM on Freeform. The series is based on "The Mortal Instruments" by Cassandra Clare.
