Samsung Trademark Filing Hints Potential Galaxy S8 ‘Beast Mode’; Smartphone Reveal May Happen In April 2017

Samsung has yet to unveil details of its upcoming flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S8. However, a recently discovered trademark filing made by the tech company hinted of a potential "Beast Mode" for the said device.

Many tech critics are expecting to see big changes in Samsung's upcoming new Galaxy S8 smartphone. Following the safety and battery issues surrounding the now defunct Samsung Note 7, the South Korean firm will need to impress its customer base and critics with the S8.

Several reports have already hinted of the said smartphone's potential features that include rounded edges similar to Samsung's Edge smartphone line, bezel-less display and other enhancements. However, the company's trademark filing made in Europe teased of a "Beast Mode" that may be added to the upcoming smartphone.

A copy of the trademark application, as obtained by Forbes, indicated of the company's potential plans to introduce the said "Beast Mode" to its smartphone devices, notebook computers, tablet PCs and more.

Speculations indicated that the said trademark filing may pertain to a special performance mode that will boost the capabilities of Samsung devices. With the S8's alleged Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip with 6GB to 8GB RAM, the said "Beast Mode" may be a way for consumers to fully maximize the capabilities of the smartphone.

However, other speculations hinted that the said performance mode may be linked to the Galaxy S8's speculated compatibility with the GearVR system. The "Beast Mode" might be added to the S8 to further enhance a user's VR experience when utilizing apps specifically designed with the said feature.

In other news, it appears that Samsung is planning to hold a separate event to showcase its new flagship smartphone. Sources told SamMobile that the South Korean company is eyeing an April 2017 launch to be held in New York.

At this time, it is unclear if the upcoming S8 will include a "Beast Mode" and if its unveiling will be held during a dedicated event in 2017. Samsung has yet to comment on the latest news.

The new Galaxy S8 is expected for release in the second quarter of 2017. Learn more about the smartphone's speculated features in the clip below:
