BioWare Confirms Free 'Mass Effect: Andromeda' Multiplayer DLC
After a series of trailers that showcased "Mass Effect: Andromeda" and its game modes have been revealed. Gamers are obviously excited to hear more information about the BioWare RPG and its multiplayer mode. The developer's general manager Aaryn Flynn recently surprised fans with his announcement that the multiplayer DLC for the game are all free of charge. This was reportedly a response to a question asked by a fan about free maps in the game's multiplayer.
Flynn reportedly claimed that the online game mode will feature the same mechanics "just like ME3". Sources have speculated that it will include free maps, but players will have the access to purchase weapons and armor upgrades, which offers a slight advantage over regular players who won't avail of these paid content. Game Rant also reports that the recently announced loot boxes might also reward players with new weapons and items as well.
It is suspected that BioWare's Aaryn Flynn responded to the fan's question as part of their marketing plan to continuously keep fans excited. "Mass Effect: Andromeda" is already scheduled to launch in a few weeks, which seems to be reason for the steady release of gameplay information. A few weeks ago, game producer Fernando Melo reportedly hinted that female krogans would be available in the game's multiplayer mode.
One of the most recent reports about the game's features involved the number of planets available for exploration. Gamenguide was able to report that the developer confirmed players will be able to encounter more than 100 planets. It was also noted that not every planet can be visited for exploration, but it is speculated that the scanning feature in "Mass Effect 2" might make a comeback.
BioWare's marketing tactics seems to be very effective, since fan activity in Twitter has reportedly increased. "Mass Effect: Andromeda" is apparently less than two weeks away from its official launch date and the game was recently confirmed to have gone gold. Reports have also indicated that a day one patch is being prepared and the news of free multiplayer content will most likely stir fans into a frenzy until the game's release on March 21, 2017.
